Problems facing vets at GIZA ZOO and Regional Zoos
|
|
International zoo organization recommended euthanasia as a
well-known procedure in zoos for old sick animals which do not respond to
treatment (not curable) to let them rest in peace in a humanitarian way which save
expenses for feeding, treatment, & care besides having them displayed raise
pity and disgust the zoo visitors instead of enjoying their visit to zoos.
Unfortunately this procedures are not allowed at Egyptian
Zoos yet.
It is recognized that wild animals longevity is increased in
captivity due to good care and nutrition at zoos.
That’s why Egyptian zoos have some senile
animals when isolated the zoo is accused of cruelty & when displayed
opportunists take photos and spread as the general case for all zoo animals
& vets are considered neglecting the poor sick animals.
